The institute aims to give the participants a taste of the sweetness of seeking sacred knowledge as well as have them memorize as much Quran, with Tajweed, as possible in the five week period spent on the Masjid Al-Islam campus. The program includes a variety of activities focused on fostering ties of brotherhood and sisterhood and increasing knowledge in matters of Islamic worship, behavior and Islamic Identity. This covers the program, snacks, field trips, all study materials and special Jumuah lunches. Quran instruction is free. Space is limited so it is important that you apply as soon as possible. Notice of acceptance for an interview will be sent to you upon receipt of payment. The tuition is $25 per week per child ($125 total)/ $20 per week for each additional child. Requirements include:
· Must be 8-12 years of age
· Must be able to read Arabic fairly well
· Modest, loose dress including kufis for boys and hijabs for girls
· Must have exceptional behavior
· Must be on good academic and behavioral standing in regular school (submit copy of most recent report card or progress report)
· Application Deadline: June 10,2010/ Tuition Payment Deadline July 2, 2010

Coordinators Adrian "Ashir" Kirk - Adrian "Ashir" Kirk was born in Chicago, Ill and raised between Hartford and New Haven, CT. He left for Syria at the age of 16 to study Arabic and Islamic studies and stayed for four years.In Syria he focused strongly on Tajweed (proper recitation of Quran), studying privately under various Quran scholars. He then went to Morocco to memorize Quran for two years. He is now married and an active member of Masjid Al-Islam.
Majidah Owuo-Hagood- Sister Majidah was born in Atlanta, GA and moved to Senegal, West Africa in 2001 to study Quran for four years. She completed her memorization in 2005 and received her certificate of completion. She is now married and an active member of Masjid Al-Islam.
Curriculum/Schedule
Week 1: Aqidah week
Week 2: Seerah week/Field trip
Week 3: Hadith week
Week 4: Fiqh week/Field trip
Week 5: Pre Ramadan Prep/ Review
Daily schedule:
Mon.-Fri. 9:00 am. to 3:15 pm.
9:00-9:20 – Individual consultation, light snack and socializing.
9:20-9:45 – Group reading of surah Fatihah and opening dua (Allahumma ‘Allimna ma yanfa’unaa….-to end-) and cover some aspects of Tarbiyyah Islamiyyah
9:45-10:30 – Revision of previous day’s work
10:30-10:45 – Short break, stretch, use restroom and make wudu
10:45-12:30 – Quran reading and memorization/prep
12:30-1:00 – Lunch break and prayer
Post prayer-1:45 – break continued
1:45-2:15 – Study subject of the week
2:15-3:15 – Closing dua, read 3 Qool’s then break for activities and games
3:15 – Go home
